i hate it, yet i am studying about it...darn contrasting huh?
aih~ just watched "Project Suprestar" a singing competition by MediaCorp in Singapore. There's this one contestant who in my opinion is NOT FAT (156 cm and 50kg) is said to be too fat by one of the judges and she's plainly judged by her looks...darn...her singing not bad one u know...
This just goes to show the portrayal of "Beauty" by the media. U must be like this this this if not, ur categorized as "too fat" or "too short"...WTH...
It's just sad la...i have nothing to say...the media's influence on the youth is growing and shouldn't they show a better portryal of things? They just streotype the way they want to and norm tells u this is the way to act or this is what you call "beautiful"...
Aih~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ *shakes head* That's why anorexia and weight related problem occur more often now especially between youths...
Studying human communication really make me realise how your culture especially influences your thoughts and beliefs. When you are unsucessful in your cultural perspective, your looked down upon and it has a negative effect on your self-concept and self-esteem...
Also, research has shown that people who are considered by their society as beautiful/ handsome tend to get better service!!! can u imagine???!!!
