City of Lights, Hong Kong

If you're reading this, I'd like to say thank you for not giving up on this space and coming back to check on my blog for updates.

It's been a while but here's my post on my trip to Hong Kong back in Jan :)

Mom made the decision to go there initially with my sister, then my bro was going to be back and gradually it turned into a family trip with my dad flying down from Shanghai to join us.

I've always heard and read about how enticing Hong Kong can be from Jojo who's worked there before and even Lolo who's been there a couple of times, but seeing is believing and there are things you really have to experience to feel the pace of Hong Kong.

To me, being in Hong Kong felt a lot like being in a TVB drama. Everywhere you turned there were the streets and taxis you'd see in the series and my bro even got all excited the moment some policemen stepped into the train we were in!

Although there were times where the family couldn't agree with one another on where to go, I pretty much managed to scratch a few items off my to-do list, and there were some unexpected finds--like taking the boat from one of the ports near the IFC to Tsim Sha Tsui for HKD2 and seeing the beautiful city of lights.

Most parts of Hong Kong give off the fast paced vibe but it was refreshing to find the Victoria Park in the midst of all that, with people just sitting around playing chess, a game of cards or just walking and exercising. Best part, there was free wi-fi in the area courtesy of the Hong Kong government!

Finally, going to Hong Kong this time meant more than just a visit, it was kinda like I finally managed to fulfil a promise made to a friend that I'd visit her in Hong Kong (ever since we graduated back in 2008)! Even though we're in different countries leading different lives, it will always be a privilege to call her my friend.
